Ryan and Wade began high school. On the first day of school, Ryan and Wade witness two thugs, Filkins and Ronnie, and attacking geek, Emmit, defending him in his closet. Wade intervenes. Rooney and Ryan Filkins begin targeting endlessly, Wade, and Emmit. Wade suggests hiring a bodyguard. They place an ad on the Internet, and after a series of interviews with ex-cons troublesome rented guns, and they end up selecting Drillbit Taylor (Owen Wilson). Drillbit pretends arts expert self-defense and mercenaries, but is in fact a homeless beggar. His real intention was to become a bodyguard to rob them and use the money to buy a ticket to Canada. Drillbit tells the boys to find some common interests, and become friends with Filkins and Ronnie. Ryan defies Filkins to battle rap, but gets pregnancy and ends with Filkins degrading. As angry Filkins, along with Rooney and ambushes Ryan, Wade and Emmit. Boys tried to use the tactic Drillbit taught them, but failed in the end. Boys are angry with Drillbit's teachings. But they decided to bring him to an alternative school as a teacher, and as such he is able to protect them. While there, Drillbit meet the teacher, Lisa Zachey (Leslie Mann), and they start a relationship. One morning his mother drives him to school, and sees Rooney Drillbit taking a shower on the beach. And his mother reveal that homeless. Rooney says Filkins and Filkins finds the boys and punches Drillbit. Later in Wade's house, they arrested a homeless Drillbit friends steal everything in sight, leaving the house completely empty. Drillbit admits that his real name is Bob and he fled from the US Army, and was named drillbit because he hurt his pinkie in high school with the drillbit. Boys fire Drillbit, who is recovering at a later time all of their possessions Wade and puts them again before returning home parents Wade. Unfortunately, the boys from inadvertently sliding toward Drillbit. Parents take things with the school director, who contacts the police. Filkins plays innocent charm all adults; Filkins continues to ridicule the boys after Drillbit's disappearance. Tensions finally caught when trying to cut Filkins Wade to ask his crush, Brooke Nguyen, outside. Without realizing what he was doing, Wade challenges Filkins to a fight. Ryan and Wade access to Filkins home ", where the hosts a party; Rooney appears to help Filkins against them. Emmit, who initially refused to fight, and come to their rescue and for a period of time causing too much pain to Filkins, almost defeat him; but Ronnie knocks him out while he was Filkins tries to break his leg. Filkins was arrested and shipped off to Hong Kong, where he will live with his parents under house arrest as an alternative to being sent to prison for the attempted murder of three boys with the sword, breaking several laws of underage drinking. Rooney no longer make fun of the other boys because Filkins went and reveals that he was bullied by him several times. As a result, Rooney became kind to everyone, and is now friends with the boys. Drillbit taken to jail, but ends up being released within three weeks. And reunited with Lisa and the boys. In a scene after the credits, Drillbit revealed that school and become a nurse asks a child with a bloody nose if it needs to be a bodyguard.
